Statement Earrings

August 6, 2019

If you pay close attention to the blog, you may have noticed that in the past few posts I’ve been wearing statement earrings.

Even though statement earrings are a fun and easy way to add visual interest to an outfit they are often overlooked because of concern about their weight. For some people (myself included) the weight causes their ear lobes to droop. To help prevent that from happening you can buy backings which will provide added support and help stabilize the earrings. Another option is to choose earrings that are clip on, which solve the problem all together.

When wearing statement earrings make sure to keep the rest of your jewelry super minimal so that you have a balanced look and the pieces don’t compete with one another. I always pair my statement earrings with a neutral colored shoe and bag for the same reason.

So let’s discuss why I chose to pair these statement earrings with this maxi dress. What immediately caught my eye about this dress was its blue lace trim (I love lace and am always drawn to it). Therefore I chose accessories which also had blue (the earrings and sunglasses) to play off the trim and draw attention to it!

Even though this is a post about statement earrings I can’t possibly end this blog post without talking more about this maxi dress (if you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know how much I love maxi dresses)! Aside from the blue trim, I also love the delicate embroidery details, that it’s off the shoulder, and not tight (perfect for the extremely hot weather we’ve been having in NYC). Despite all the lace and embroidery, the dress is also super affordable (only $55). Check out the end of this post for some other great and inexpensive maxi dresses!
