Let’s talk about the age-old question: what to wear to a wedding. While I would love to say that there is one dress that would be appropriate for every wedding, unfortunately that is not the case.

First things first, unless the bride specifically requests otherwise, never show up wearing all white! This is the bride’s special day and all attention should be on her.

Next, where is the venue? If the wedding is taking place at a vineyard obviously you aren’t going to wear a dress that is as formal as you would if the wedding is taking place at the Four Seasons. The only exception is if the wedding invitation says Black Tie. Then, no matter how casual the venue is, you should wear something formal.

Lastly, if you are still not certain what to wear – ask the bride! Trust me, she will appreciate it!

My brother’s girlfriend, whom I had only met once or twice beforehand, wore a navy dress to my wedding. My colors were navy and silver. And yes, she knew because my brother had asked me for her.
