I’ve talked about my love for tulle skirts several times on the blog before (for example here and here). Today, I want to show how to style a tulle skirt in a completely different way. My inspiration for this look comes from the Dior Resort 2019 Collection.
Because a tulle skirt has so much volume, 9.9 times out of 10 I will pair it with a crop top or a fitted top, which I tuck into the skirt, in order to balance out the skirt’s volume and draw the eye’s attention up to the waist (the thinnest part of the body). Although I love Dior’s idea of pairing a tulle skirt with a blazer, I decided to create a hybrid of the looks in order to create a more flattering outfit.
In the photo on the left the model isn’t wearing any belt. The blazer is fitted, which helps draw attention to the waist but the fit alone doesn’t bring as much focus to that area as I would like. In the photo on the right the model is wearing a belt, but the belt doesn’t give the model any shape because of the blazer’s length.
In order to create definition at the waist (and draw attention there), I decided to wear a belt on top of the blazer. Placement of the belt is key – always position the belt at your natural waist (if you bend to the side a crease will form at your natural waist; it will be the smallest part of your midsection).
One quick note before I end this post. There is no need to purchase a designer tulle skirt. I have gotten all of my tulle skirts, including the one I’m wearing in this post from Chicwish (and it’s currently on sale for only $69.90). I’ve linked to my other favorite tulle skirts below!
