Friday Favorite: Beach Waves and Pin Curls

August 14, 2015

Even though my outfits are always changing on the blog, my hairstyle is always the same.

That’s why I thought it would be fun to team up with Folica to create two hairstyles that I love – beach waves and pin curls (finger waves) and to show you guys how you can also create these looks as well!

Look #1: Beach Waves
After washing your hair, apply a heat protectant spray, which will protect your hair from being damaged! Next, apply FATBOY Perfect Putty to your damp hair. This product will thicken your hair and also make your hair matte to give it that beachy texture.

Next, dry your hair with a round brush. Twist your hair with the brush at the ends, which will create loose curls. Once you’ve finished drying your hair, you’re going to apply some more FATBOY. This time move your hands in an upward direction towards your roots to create volume and lift. Then you can also just simply tousle your hair a bit. That’s it! Super simple!

Look #2: Pin Curls/Finger Waves
For this look you are going to follow the same instructions as above except this time there is no need to twist your hair with the brush as you are drying it. After you have dried your hair you are going to take a small section, spray it with hair spray and then use a curling iron to tightly curl that section.

Clip that curl in place and move onto the next section. Repeat this process until you’ve curled and clipped all your hair.

After allowing it to set for a few minutes remove the clips. Now it’s time to brush through those curls. This time make sure to use a bristle brush. Slowly they will start to form into waves. You can spray some hairspray onto the brush to help mold the waves as you see fit!

I love both looks! Look #1 is great for daytime, very casual, yet not boring.
It’s loose and free, yet has style.
Look #2 is great when going to an event or if you have to dress up for something.
