3 Ways to Tie a Scarf

April 21, 2014

3-ways-to-tie-a-scarf-featured-image
Today’s post is all about scarves. They transition well between seasons and are great for traveling, whether it be to keep you warm on the plane or on a summer night that is a bit chilly.

Here are some of my favorite ways to tie a scarf:

OPTION 1:
How-to-Tie-Scarves-Twist-On-The-Classic
Step 1: Place the scarf around your neck keeping one side longer than the other.

Step 2: Take the longer side and wrap it around your neck one time.

Steps 3-4: Pull the longer side of the scarf through the loop.

Step 5: Adjust and fluff the scarf!

OPTION 2:
How-to-Tie-Scarves-The-Classic
Step 1: Fold the scarf in half.

Step 2: Keeping the scarf folded, wrap it around your neck.

Step 3: Pull the scarf through the loop.

Steps 4-5: Adjust and fluff the scarf!

OPTION 3:
How-to-Tie-Scarves-Infinity
Step 1: Fold the scarf in half and tie a knot with the ends.

Step 2: Place the knotted scarf over your neck.

Step 3: Twist the scarf (it should look like a figure eight).

Step 4: Take the bottom of the figure eight and lift it up and over your head.

Step 5: Adjust and fluff the scarf!

Shopping Tips:

  • Choose a large scarf, which will allow you to wear it in more than one way. The larger the scarf the larger your options for how to style it.
  •

  • Pay close attention to the fabric of the scarf. Choose a heavier weight fabric (such as wool) for winter and a lighter weight fabric (such as cotton, linen, and silk) for summer.

Your turn! Which of the above options do you like the best? What’s your favorite way to tie a scarf? Let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. It was so helpful, and learning the different ways to tie an infinity scarf is so much fun. Learning different ways of tying a scarf brings so many benefits, since you can use it on different occasion.

I love this because I just learned 2 new ways to wear a scarf! I love scarves and my favorite one to wear lately are the infinity scarves. Thanks to you, I know how to make one out of the regular scarves I have using option 3! The other one I learned was option 1 – very creative! :)
